AC/DC is a heavy metal Australian rock band that was formed in Sidney way back 1973. The group was formed by Malcolm and Angus Young, two Scottish born brothers. Current members include Brian Johnson, Angus Young, Malcolm Young, Cliff Williams, and Phil Rudd. Before the release of their first album, AC/DC underwent several changes in their line-up. Band membership remained stable until Mark Evans, the band bassist, was replaced by Cliff Williams in 1977. The band even considered disbanding when the lead singer and co-songwriter, Bon Scott, died on February 19, 1980 due to heavy alcohol consumption. The disbanding did not push through when the lead singer spot was filled by Brian Johnson. After Phil Rudd was fired in 1983, AC/DC declined in popularity. However, in 1994, Phil Rudd returned to the band and contributed for the release of another album in 1995. The first album ever released by the band was entitled “High Voltage”. In 1979, the band released their highly successful album entitled “Highway to Hell”. In late 1980s, the band released their best selling album entitled “Back in Black”. “For Those About to Rock We Salute You”, the next album released by the band was also highly successful and was the first of their album to reach number one in the United States. In 1995, the group released “Ballbreaker” and in 2000 they released the album entitled “Stiff Upper Lip”. The band’s most recent album released was on October 2008 entitled “Black Ice”. AC/CD has sold more than 200 million albums all over the world, including 71 million copies in the United States alone. They ranked fourth on VH1s list of “100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock”, seventh on MTV’s list of “Greatest Heavy Metal Band of All Time” and 72nd in the Rolling Stone’s list of “100 Greatest Artists of All Time”.
