All Shook Up is a jukebox musical based on the book by Joe DiPietro and uses music by Elvis Presley. It is based on the Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare. It premiered on Broadway in 2005 at the Palace Theatre. Since then, this has been produced in schools and regional theaters.
The musical is about a pious town where excitement of any kind ñ including dancing and having fun ñ is forbidden by the mayor. The town was alright with the rules until Chad, a guitar-playing guy fresh from prison, came to town and turned it upside down. All the girls fall in love with him, including the lady mechanic, Natalie, who helps him fix his bike.
Chad brings chaos to the town when he fixed a broken jukebox and the townsfolk began to sing and dance much to Mayor Matildaís anger. Then, the unexpected happened ñ many of the townsfolk, including the Mayorís own son, fell in love with someone. The town was indeed shook up, with some exchanging partners until the townsfolk realized who their real loves are.
