The Brigham Young University Cougars is one of the top college football programs in the West. The team competes in NCAA Division I-A and Mountain West Conference. BYU won almost 80 percent of the conference games and 70 percent of all their games since 1972

For the past 33 years, the team’s history was filled with championships, bowl games and national honors. Since 1974, has played in 26 bowl games, won 23 Conference Championships including 4 Mountain West Conference titles. The team won their first National Championship in 1984

In 2000, BYU have been making regular bowl game appearances. Throughout the 2006 season, the team won 9 straight games earning them top 20 rankings in the Associated Press Top 25 as well as the USA Today Coaches Poll, The Harris Interactive Poll and BCS rankings. It was also the third longest winning streak in the country and seventh in BYU football history.

In 2008, BYU earned a spot including no. 7 in the national polls each week of the season with two losses with Utah and Texas. The team also earned the no. 16 spot in the final BCS standings and got an invitation to play at the 2008 Las Vegas Bowl.
