The Black Eyed Peas are a famous hip-hop/pop group which was formed in 1995 in Los Angeles, California. It was founded by former member Atban Klann, and current members Wil I. Am, and Apl. De Ap. Later additions to the band include Taboo and Fergie.
After their debut album “Behind the Front”, the group became more interested in incorporating dance styles in their songs eventually this pave way in creating their second album entitled “Bridging the Gap”. Klann later on separated from the group due to artistic conflict.
“Elephunk” was the group’s first album with Stacy “Fergie” Ferguson. Fergie replaced then female member Kim Hill.
The group’s hip-hop dance style has helped propel them to fame. They are estimated to have sold over 35 million copies and more than 41 million copies of their singles. One of the group’s most famous singles was “Where Is the Love” which garnered international fame and remained in the top ten charts worldwide for several weeks. Another famous single was “Shut Up” that became a European hit in 2003. In Billboard’s Hot 100, the group became one of only 11 artists to have ever held the number one and two spots.
