California Golden Bears is the group of athletic teams that compete in the NCAA Division I Pacific 10 Conference for the University of California, Berkeley. The group is often referred to simply as ìCalî or ìCalifornia,î and is known for winning multiple titles over the course of its history. In fact, Cal has won a number of awards in 16 sports such as basketball, football, baseball, swimming, diving, golf, gymnastics, and volleyball, acquiring a total of 66 titles or so.
Cal is currently under Sandy Barbour, their athletics director, and is cheered on by Oski the Bear. The teamís colors are California Gold and Yale blue, and have produced a number of well known professional athletes through the years. Some of the said athletes include Jason Kidd, Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Jeff Kent, Eddie Hart, James Robinson, and Matt Biondi.
For the groupís games, they have made use of a number of sports facilities in California. Some examples of these facilities include the California Memorial Stadium for football games, Evans Diamond for baseball games, and the Haas Pavilion for the basketball games.
