The Carolina Hurricanes are an American ice hockey team. Based in Raleigh, North Carolina USA the team is in the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League.
Tickets for Hurricanes games are always in demand due to their winning franchise and talented roster of players. The play their home games in the RBC Center with an 18,680-seat capacity.
In 1971, the team was founded as the New England Whalers of the World Hockey Association and later moved to NHL in 1979 and became the Hartford Whalers. Eventually in 1997, they changed their name into Carolina Hurricanes.
The team had their first ever Stanley Cup by beating the Edmonton Oilers four to three. In April 2010, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman released a statement that the Hurricanes will host the 2011 NHL All-Star Game at the RBC center. February last year, the club made some changes in their front office by hiring ìPaul Mauriceî and acquiring utility forward Jussi Jokinen in exchange for Wade Brookbank and Josef Melichar.
