About Carolina Panthers
Carolina was unanimously chosen as the 29th NFL franchise by the NFL owners since 1976. The idea was conceived in 1987 when Baltimore Colts player, Jerry Richardson, wanted to bring an expansion team to Carolina. This was made official on October 26, 1993.

In July 29, 1995 in their first game, the Panthers defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars and became the first team in NFL to win its inaugural game. In their first regular season the same year, the Panthers did not win its first game but got their first victory against New York Jets in October 15th. In November 5th, the team won an expansion-record, first time an expansion team won against a Super Bowl Champion which was the San Francisco 49ers.

In 2002, with the votes of the NFL owners, the Panthers moved to the then newly created National Football Conference South Division with teams such as the Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Super Bowl XXXVIII was one unforgettable tight match which the Panthers won earning them the nickname the “Cardiac Cats” due to points they made in the dying seconds. In 2008, The Panthers ended the season with 12 wins, equaling the most wins in team history.
