Casting Crowns is a Christian band that performs Christian songs that are in the soft rock genre. The band was actually created in 1999 by Mark Hall, a youth pastor, as a part of the churchís youth group. Currently, the band includes Hall as the lead singer, as well as other members who joined sometime during its creation such as Juan DeVevo, Melodee DeVevo, Hecctor Cervantes, Megan Garrett, Brian Scoggin, and Chris Huffman.
The band was not in search of a record label, however, one of their independent albums caught the attention of Beach Street Records, and soon enough, the band found themselves with an eponymous debut album in 2003. A number of albums followed the band, whose songs were able to be chart toppers, and as of 2010, the band won the Dove Award for Artist of the Year. The said award is the bandís very first win.
A new album is scheduled to be released later in 2010 following the album, ìUntil The World Hears.î
