Cats Tickets

Cats is a Tony Award and Laurence Olivier Award winning musical play produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber and is based on the T.S. Elliot book “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats”. Webber was also the one to compose music for the show while T.S. Elliot and Trevor Nunn were responsible for the lyrics. The popular song ‘Memory’, which has been covered by several artists including Barbra Streisand, originates from this musical.

The musical follows a group of cats from the Jellicle tribe. Lead characters include Asparagus ‘Gus’, Old Deuteronomy, Munkustrap, Jennyanydots, Macavity, Victoria, Demeter, Jemima, and Mr. Mistoffeless.

The play debuted as a concert in 1980. It later opened as in the West End in 1981 before it moved to Broadway in 1982. Both the West End and Broadway productions were directed by Trevor Nunn and choreographed by Gilian Lynne. Aside from its London and Broadway productions, the musical has also toured the US and has been performed in several locations all over the world. In 1998, the musical was translated into film.

The London production of Cats ran for 21 years and the Broadway production ran for 18 both respectively holding long-run records for both Broadway and the West End.
