Chicago Cubs is an American Professional Baseball team of the so called “Windy City”, Chicago, Illinois. The team is often referred as the “The North Siders”, “The Boys in Blue” or simply “The Cubbies”. In 1871, this franchise started to play as the Chicago White Stockings in the National Association. The team dropped out following the Great Chicago Fire, but in 1874 they rejoined the league. In 1876 the team joined the new National League and became the only team to play continuously in the same city since the National League was formed. The franchise’s name evolved through Colts to the Cubs, and eventually in 1906 Chicago Cubs become the standard name. The Chicago Cubs were one of the most powerful baseball teams. In 1906, the Cubs won a record 116 games in a 154 game season. With four Hall of Famers, the Cubs won back-to-back World Series titles in 1907 to 1908. One of the best pre 20th century players of Chicago Cubs was Cap Anson, he led the team to over 1200 wins and 5 titles during his time. Anson also became the first batter to collect 3000 hits. In 2008, they win their second straight National League Central title, this highlighted the team’s 100th anniversary since their last World Series Championship.
