The group started with David Crosby, Stephen Stills, and Graham Nash and later joined by Neil Young.The trio collaborated since 1969 and debut with their self-titled album before a performance in Woodstock. In 1970, with Young, the chart topping album “Déjà Vu” was released. They then recorded “Ohio” in response to the killing of four students at Kent State University by the National Guardsman during an antiwar protest. They were then known as the only American band of the original Woodstock era to have political and personal as well as societal impact.In 1971, the group disbanded but regrouped in 1974 for a summer stadium tour without releasing new records. “So Far” the group’s retrospective-to-date became no. 1 in the Billboard. In 1977, the group without Young became another giant hit with the album “CSN” with their first multiplatinum single “Just Before I Go”. In 1982, “Daylight Again” followed. Crosby then had drug and legal problems which placed him in jail from 1985 to 1986. He later cleaned up, and the CSNY was reunited and released “American Dream” in 1988.In 1990, without Young, CSN released “Live It Up”. They went on a 25th anniversary tour in Europe in 1994 and released “After the Storm”. They reunited again with Young in 1999 with “Looking Forward” and in 2000 their CSNY2K tour.
