Curtains, a musical brought to life by the music of John Kander with lyrics courtesy of Fred Ebb, and it comes with a book created by Rupert Holmes. The musical is based on Peter Stoneís book, and is set in Boston, 1959. The show focuses on a murder mystery where a detective poses as a theater fan in order to solve the case, save the show, and perhaps find a little bit of romance while at it.
Although the original book as well as the concept was created by Peter Stone, it was Rupert Holmes that took over and finished the composition. Incidentally, lyrics maestro, Fred Ebb, also passed away before completing the musical.
The musical went through 23 previews before it opened in March 2007. Though initially garnering mixed reviews, the musical went on to achieve 8 Tony Award nominations and winning a Hyde Pierce award. Sadly, the Broadway musical closed its curtains in June 29, 2008. Still, numerous productions of the musical have been scheduled in the United States as well as internationally since 2010.
