The Dallas Cowboys History
Dallas Cowboys is an expansion team awarded to Clint Murchison, Jr. and Bedford Wynne by the National Football League and in January 28, 1960 actually joined the league. To help build the team roster, the Cowboys were allowed to pick three players from each of the 12 NFL teams.
The team was to play as a “swing” team, playing every other team one time during the first season. The Cowboys ended their first season with a dismal winless record but slowly after has started to build its reputation. By the end of 1960s the Cowboys had risen and since then became the most successful team of the NFL. They won 19 divisional championships, ten Conference championships and five Super Bowls. The team holds the NFL record of having 20 consecutive winning seasons from 1966 to 1985. 1970s became the record decade of the Cowboys.
In 2007, Forbes Magazine published an article naming the Dallas Cowboys as the most valuable football team in the world with the worth of an estimated $1.5 billion, generating $250 million yearly, making them one of the richest NFL football teams. The Cowboys are also known as the America’s Team because of its popularity and success.
