David Sedaris is a Greek-American, who was born on December 26, 1956 in Binghamton, New York. Sedaris is best known as a writer, humorist, and comedian who has authored bestselling books.
In his youth, Sedaris dabbled in a bit of performance and visual art, although without much success. After graduating from school, Sedaris worked a number of jobs before radio host Ira Glass spotted him. He then read radio essays called ìSantaLand Diaries,î which became an immediate success.
By 1994, Sedaris was able to compile a book of essays and stories, which he titled ìBarrel Fever,î and released it in the same year. He was also contributing at an hour long radio show called ìThis American Life,î where later he became a frequent guest.
Aside from being an author, Sedaris is also a playwright, and has made several plays together with his his sister, Amy. Most of these plays fall under the name ìThe Talent Family,î and have been performed at various theaters.
