Denver Nuggets is a professional basketball team and is a member of the National Basketball Association in its Western Conference and Northwest Division. Formerly called the Denver Rockets and Denver Larks from 1967 to 1974, the team was founded in the American Basketball Association. They were renamed Nuggets after a contest which was held to replace the name Rockets since it was already used by the Houston Rockets.

The team’s history of home arenas includes the Denver Arena Auditorium from 1967 to 1975, McNichols Sports Arena from 1975 to 1999 and the Pepsi Center which was used by the Nuggets from 1999 onwards.

The Denver Nuggets was the home team of notable basketball players including Alex English, Dan Issel and David Thompson who were all inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. The Nuggets is also known for its team members winning individual awards such as Marcus Camby, the NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2007 among many other notable players.
