Elton John is an English singer-songwriter, pianist and composer. Born Elton Hercules John in March 25, 1947, Elton John has been a strong figure in the music industry made even stronger with his record of selling more than 250 million records over the span of forty years.
Elton John is one of the most successful music artists of all time. One of his many hits, Candle in the Wind 1997, is the best selling single of all time with over 37 million copies of the song sold. He also has more than 50 top chart hits and numerous awards including a Golden Globe Award, a Tony Award, an Academy Award and five Grammy awards.
Elton John’s musical talent is considered highly distinctive and is often characterized by an innate ability to craft melodies for the lyrics of his longtime songwriting partner, Bernie Taupin; his baritone and tenor voice and his onstage showmanship.
In 1994, he was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and was knighted in 1998.
