Florida Panthers is a professional ice hockey team and is a member of the National Hockey League. The team is based in Sunrise, Florida and belongs to the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference. The Panthers play their home games at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida and is currently the NHL's southernmost team.
As of 2008, the team is the only NHL team to have a lifetime winning percentage of .500 or better compared to the Montreal Canadiens, which is currently the team with the most number of Stanley Cup titles in the league. The team has a relatively new jersey design which was revealed to more than 11,000 fans at the BankAtlantic Center on July 28, 2007.
The team finished the 2008-2009 seasons with a solid 93 points and 41-30-11 record - the team's second best record ever in their franchise history. However, despite their strong standing, the team missed the playoffs.
