About Freckleface Strawberry

Freckleface Strawberry is a play based on a childrenís book series written by actress and writer Julianne Moore. The book explores how kids (even adults!) feel about themselves and how important it is to accept oneís self and appearance. Although a kidís story, the characters in the musical are played by adults dressed in clothes suitable for children.

The main character is Strawberry who has so many freckles in her face that her schoolmates dubbed her as Freckleface Strawberry. Her classmates tease her a lot about her freckles. Because she feels different from her classmates, she does everything she could to make the freckles disappear or at least hide them. She resorted to scrubbing hard on the spots but they wonít go away. She used a ski mask to school. She used makeup. She did just about anything to get rid of them.

Then, in her quest to get rid of her freckles she learns that the other people around her also wanted to get rid of something in them. She realizes that all people are different and she does not really have to change to fit in.
