About Giselle
Giselle, ou Les Wilis, a ballet production divided into two acts, tells a romantic tale of a girl saving her love even in death. The ballet involves a libretto created by Theophile Gautier and Jules-Henri Vernoy de Saint-Georges.

The plot of the story begins with Duke Albrecht pretending to be Loys, a peasant who has gone away to sow some of his wild oats just before he is wed to Bathilde. He met Giselle and the two fall in love with each other despite warnings from Giselleís mother and Hilarion, a gamekeeper who is in love with Giselle. When Giselle finds out Loysí true identity, she becomes mad and dies. Albrecht then goes in search for Giselleís grave and encounters the Wilis who hands him his death sentence. Giselleís ghost protects Albrecht from the Wilis and in turn saves her from being associated with them.

The role of Giselle is the most sought after role in ballet. One of the most famous ballerinas able to pull off the role of Giselle is Anna Pavlova.
