Good People is a theater play created by Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire. The play is about working-class people who must come to terms with poverty and their dreams of escape from their plight. The show is suitable for people 12 years old and above.
The play is set in Southie, a neighborhood in Boston. In this poor neighborhood lived people who were so poor that any given paycheck for the month only covers the previous monthís bills. The townsfolk play a few rounds of bingo to pass time ñ that is their definition of a good time in town.
The main character, Margie, has just lost her job and faces eviction from her home. Then, at the moment of despair, she remembers an old flame who had gotten out of Southie. She leaves Southie in search of this old flame in hopes that he would be her ticket from her dire predicament.
