‘How The Grinch Stole Christmas’ is a musical adapted from the same title of a popular children’s storybook written by Dr. Seuss. The music included in the production is written by Mel Marvin and Albert Hague, with lyrics by Timothy Mason and from original texts used by Dr. Seuss in the book. Its first ever production was held in Minneapolis in 1994 at the Children’s Theater Company, which created quite a following that it was revived in 1995 and 1998. Similarly, a different version was mounted in San Diego at the Old Globe Theater where it has been running during the holidays since 1998. This version is based on the 1966 animated special shown on television. One of the performers in San Diego was Vanessa Hudgens who went on to star in Disney’s High School Musical and become a recording artist as well. The Grinch musical made it to Broadway for a holiday run in November 2006 to January 2007, earning top grosses in box office tickets. In 2008, it went on a limited run in Boston and Baltimore. The Los Angeles debut is slated to spread some holiday cheer in November 2009-January 2010 in Pantages Theater.
