Illinois Fighting Illini or simply ìThe Illiniî is a group of intercollegiate athletic teams from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The group is composed of 11 womenís and 10 menís varsity teams.
The team colors are orange and blue, and they call the Illinois Field as its baseball stadium, with the Memorial Stadium as the football stadium, and the Assembly Hall as the home basketball arena.
Many of the alumni from The Illini have acquired professional careers outside of the University, such as Kenny Battle, who played in the NBA for 4 seasons, Darrin Fletcher, who used to be the catcher of the Toronto Blue Jays, D.A. Points, who is currently a PGA Golfer, and many more.
The team representing the university is a part of 10 primary Midwestern universities that form the Big Ten Conference. As a result, these teams often meet each other at least once a year.
