This British rock group was formed in 1957 and is well known for their blues rock music which they have infused with an experimental flavor. They have also successfully incorporated experimental music with folk, jazz and art rock music.
Jethro Tullís music is largely influenced by the musical taste of Ian Anderson who has led the band since it was formed and guitarist Martin Barre. Anderson first formed a band in the 60s called the White Blades which later became the white soul group The John Evan Band.
Anderson started working with Barre after choosing him as the guitarist of his band in 1968. Barre was a former member of Motivation and Penny Peeps. They later released Stand Up in 1969 and this later placed number one, and would become the groupís only UK number one album. The groupís music continued to evolve throughout its five-decade career, growing from progressive rock to folk rock and then electronic rock.
