Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a musical theater show created by the team of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. It is based on the Biblical story of Joseph and the ìcoat of many colorsî that he got from his father ñ as taken from the Book of Genesis in the Hebrew Bible. Most of the musical is sung-through and there is very little spoken dialogue among the cast.
The play tells of how Josephís brothers have become envious because he is clearly the favorite son ñ envy that escalates when he was given a Technicolor coat. They attempt fratricide then decide to sell him to Ishmaelites who take him to Egypt.
He worked in the house of Potiphar but was jailed of adultery though he did not commit any. In jail, he correctly interprets the dreams of 2 of the Pharaohís servants. When the Pharaoh began having strange dreams, the jailed Butler who was re-instated told him about Joseph. Joseph interprets the dream and was made in-charge of the preparations for the famine.
When the famine that Joseph interpreted from the Pharaohís dream did come true, his brothers traveled all the way to Egypt to buy food. He tests them by giving them food but putting his golden cup inside Benjaminís sack. Soon, he revealed himself and was reunited with his father.
