Kid Rock, born Robert James Ritchie on January 17, 1971, is a singer-songwriter and rapper who has received critical and commercial success during the entire span of his musical career. Kid Rock has had five Grammy Award nominations under his belt and is popular for creating music that successfully incorporated elements of rap metal, blues rock, hip hop, country, funk and many others.
Before his successful 1998 record called Devil Without a Cause, Kid Rock has released several studio albums. However, the 1998 album has been his first highly successful record which sold over 11 million copies with hits such as Bawitdaba, Only God Knows Why and Cowboy. The musical artist is considered one of the top-selling artists in the United States.
Kid Rock has had several run-ins with the police and a number of legal troubles. These run-ins included assault charges for punching a deejay, for attacking Tommy Lee, the Motley Crue drummer, among several others.
