About La Cage Aux Folles

The La Cage Aux Folles is a famous French musical play. It is based on the book by Harvey Fierstein. The lyrics and music in the play was composed by Jerry Herman.

The play has had five musical production one Broadway, one West End, and three revivals. Major parts in La Cage Aux Folles, also known to fans as simple ëLa Cageí, have featured several award wining actors including Philip Quast.

The play itself has won several Ton Awards. In 1983, the musical had their first Broadway production and they were given nine nominations for Tony Awards. During the awards night they received six awards, these includes Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Book. The Broadway cast also performed during a Tony Awards ceremony.

The showís success story didnít end there, because in 2004 they received an award for the Best musical revival. In addition to this the 2008 London revival received the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival.
