Metallica is an American metallic rock band from Los Angeles. Their fast tempo and aggressive beats established the band as one of the forerunners of the trash metal subgenre along with such groups as Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax. The band released its first album in 1986. “Master of Puppets” was regarded as one of the most influential heavy trash metal albums ever produced. This was followed by “Metallica” which was released in 1991 and debuted on the Billboard 200 at number one. The band released “St. Anger” in 2005, another heavy metal album that also debuted at number one in the Billboard charts, despite the mixed reviews from critics, most of whom, did not like the absence of guitar solos and the steely sound of the snare drum in most of the tracks. It won Metallica the title of Best Metal Performance at the 2004 Grammys and was used as the theme song for WWE’s Summer Slam 2003. The band’s compilation of all their music videos from 1989 to 2004 titled in the album “The Videos” reached the number three spot in the Billboard Top Videos Chart. In January of 2009, it was announced that Metallica would be inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame later that April.
