Minnesota Wild is the cityís representative squad in the National Hockey League. They play in the Northwest Division of the Western Conference. The team was founded in 2000 and became the official home team after the departure of Minnesota North Stars to Dallas since 1993.
Their debut game was in October 6, 2000. Marian Gaborik, the teamís draft pick scored the first ever goal of the franchise. The teamís best showing so far is its Finals appearance in the Western Conference in 2002-03 season. Though the team lost to the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, it was commendable to see such results from a young team.
Minnesota Wild calls the Xcel Energy Center as home arena, where they will host the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Their team jerseys carry forest green, harvest gold, Minnesota wheat, iron range red and white. Minnesota Wild is based in St. Paul, Minnesota. It has affiliates in the minor league, Johnstown Chiefs and Houston Aeros.
