Mississippi Rebels, better known as the "Ole Miss Rebels," is a group of the University of Mississippiís varsity teams who were originally called the ìMississippi Flood.î The athletic group is composed of 18 varsity teams that play various sports such as tennis, basketball, football, baseball, swimming, and volleyball.
The team colors of the Rebels are cardinal red and navy blue, which have been carefully chosen to reflect the Yale and Harvardís school colors. The Rebels have enjoyed a rather long history of participating in intercollegiate athletics right from their football participation in 1890. They are currently being led by Pete Boone as their athletics director, and each teamís respective head coach.
Among the many teams that the Rebels face every year, they are fierce rivals with the Mississippi State Bulldogs, Arkansas Razorbacks, and LSU Tigers. Some of the known Rebels include Jennifer Gillom, Armintie Price, Cheryl Miller, Bam Doyne, and Clarence Sanders.
