Moe is a jam band that was formed in 1989 at the University at Buffalo. The band has a seemingly common name, but gains its uniqueness by the ever present period at the end. The bandís current members include Rob Derhak, Al Schnier, Vinnie Amico, Chuck Garvey, and Jim Loughlin.
The bandís founding members are Garvey, Derhak, and Ray Schwartz, who got together to play at a show that was staged in Halloween. However, Schwartz no longer plays with the band since he left the lineup in 1992. Other members who have departed from the band include Steve Hunter, Dave Kessler, Chris Mazur, and Mike Strazza.
One of the things the band is noted for is the fact that they have participated in numerous fundraising efforts such as a Tsunami Benefit for the victims of the tsunami incident. In addition, they have held annual festivals such as ìmoe.down,î ìsnoe.down,î and ìmoe.lennium.î They have also released a number of albums, mostly under Fatboy Records.
