The Nashville Predators is a professional ice hockey team that is a member of the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The team is based in Nashville, Tennessee and plays their home games at Bridgestone Arena.
Hockey’s first appearance in Middle Tennessee was in 1962. It wasn’t until a decade after that attempts were made to come up with a hockey team in Nashville. In 1997, a group led by Craig Leipold made a formal presentation before the NHL requesting an expansion franchise. On September 25, 1997, Leipold and team president Jack Diller unveiled a franchise logo, that of a saber-toothed cat, which will later become the official logo of the Nashville Predators.
For the 2005-2006 season, the Predators won 49 games and lost 25 games out of 82. For the 2006-2007 season, the Predators won 51 games and lost 23. In 2007-2008, the team won 41 games and lost 32 and in 2008-2009, the team won 40 games and lost 34.
