New Kids on the Block is a popular boy band that gained prominence in the late 80's and early 90's. The boy band is composed of Donnie Wahlberg, Danny Wood, Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre and Jonathan Knight. Together, they have sold more than 80 million records all over the world.
The group was formed in the city of Boston in 1984 by producer Maurice Starr but disbanded in 1994. They then went on to start families and began embarking on other avenues such as real estate for Jonathan Knight while others continued being in the entertainment business.
There have been a number of attempts of getting the group back together but all of them were unsuccessful until their secret reunion in 2007. The group reunited to release a new album entitled The Block and went on a concert tour in 2008.
The group has won several awards including Favorite Pop/Rock Album and Favorite Pop/Rock Band, Duo or Group in the 1990 American Music Awards.
