The New Orleans Hornets is a professional basketball team that plays in the NBA or National Basketball Association. The team is based in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States and belongs to the NBA's Western Conference, Southwest Division. The team plays their home games at the New Orleans Arena in New Orleans and are represented with their official team colors that include Creole Blue, Mardi Gras Gold, Dark purple and White.
The team was established in 1988 as Charlotte Hornets, a name that they carried from 1988 to 2002. They were then renamed as the New Orleans Hornets in 2002 only to be renamed again to New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets in 2007. Finally, in 2007, the team was renamed to New Orleans Hornets under the ownership of Gary Chouest and the management of Jeff Bower.
The team has not won any conference titles and NBA championships and only one division title in 2008.
