Oklahoma State Cowboys, or Cowgirls for the ladies, is a group of menís and womenís athletic teams that play for Oklahoma State University. The team plays in the NCAA Division I Big 12 Conference, and is composed of 18 varsity teams that participate in various sports. Some of these sports include basketball, baseball, cross country, wrestling, golf, volleyball, and football.
The group is currently headed by their athletic director, Mike Holder, and they play their games in various facilities all over Oklahoma. Some of these facilities include the Gallagher-Iba Arena for the basketball games, Allie P. Reynolds Stadium for the baseball games, and the Boone Pickens Stadium for the American football events.
The team has its own mascot called ìPistol Peteî or ìBullet,î and they don their black and orange team colors. The Cowboys/Cowgirls are best known for being the fourth team with most national championships in all of the United States.
