Born on June 18, 1942 in Liverpool England, Paul McCartney was one of the famous members of the Beatles and Wings and a Grammy-award and Academy-award winning singer and songwriter, among other things. He rose to stardom alongside Ringo Starr, John Lennon and George Harrison as the Beatles. McCartney is also credited with being one of the co-creators of some of the best songs in rock and roll history along with John Lennon.After leaving the Beatles, McCartney debuted with his solo album McCartney in 1970 followed by Ram in 1971, an album he worked together with Linda McCartney. The following year McCartney formed Wings with Linda McCartney, Denny Laine and Denny Seiwell. The group actively performed from 1981 to 1991 until Linda death of breast cancer in 1998. He later married Heather Mills in 2006 but the couple divorced two years later.The British singer songwriter was given the title the most successful musician and composer in pop music history but aside from music, McCartney also had extensive connections in art, meditation, and in humanitarian projects. He is active in the campaigns for animal rights, vegetarianism, world education, as well as in the fight against world hunger, land mines, seal hunting, and Third World debt. He is also a fan of the Liverpool and Everton football clubs. Paul McCartney is also known as one of Britain’ wealthiest men, his fortune estimated at around $1.2 billion in 2009.
