The Pittsburgh Penguins is a team of professional ice hockey players in the Eastern Division of the National Hockey League. The team is located on Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and was founded in 1967 – noted as one of the very first expansion teams when the NHL decided to expand from 6 to 12 teams.
The team calls Mellon Arena as its home, and it is owned by Mario Lemieux and Ron Burkle. Managed by Ray Shero, the team is currently coached by Dan Bylsma, and is led by Sidney Crosby, as the team’s captain. Before the team was created, the league’s Pirates called Pittsburgh as its home sometime in the 1920s.
Throughout the number of years that the team has been active, the team has won 6 division titles, 4 conference titles, and 3 Stanley Cups. The team can easily be identified through its distinct team colors: black, white, and Vegas gold.
