Romeo and Juliet is a musical based on the play of the same title written by William Shakespeare. This piece is considered as Shakespeareís most popular play and is among the most frequently performed plays even to this day.
The musical/play tells the story of Romeo and Juliet, a pair of star-crossed lovers who come from feuding families. Despite the feud, the lovers managed to meet from time to time. Problems escalated between the two families, which ultimately led to the exile of Romeo.
The friar helped the pair by giving Juliet a drug which will induce a death-like coma for 42 hours ñ Romeo will be informed of the drug so that he can rejoin Juliet when she awakes. However, the messenger didnít reach Romeo. Instead, he found Juliet at the crypt and believed her to be dead. Buying poison to end his own life, he met Paris, the man who wishes to marry Juliet. After a duel, Romeo killed Paris; he also took the poison and died just as Juliet woke from her coma. She takes the dagger and stabs herself.
