South Pacific Tickets

South Pacific is a musical production with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, music by Richard Rogers and a book by Joshua Logan and Hammerstein. The story is drawn from the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, Tales of the South pacific which was published in 1948 by James A. Michener. The plot of the South Pacific musical revolves around characters and elements from the books many stories and combined to a single plotline.

South Pacific won the 1950 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and is generally considered as one of the best musicals in history. Some of its songs including Some Enchanted Evening, Bali Ha’I, Happy Talk and I’m in love with a Wonderful Guy have become popular worldwide.

The South Pacific Broadway production was highly successful, was nominated for ten Tony Awards and went on to win all of the nominations. Awards won were Best Musical, Best Libretto, Best Score and was the only musical to date to have won all four acting Tony Awards. The show was highly celebrated and was a huge box office and critical success. South Pacific has since enjoyed numerous tours and revivals across the world, spawned a film 1958 and many other adaptations that were all successful.
