Named after a popular Jazz song, the St. Louis Blues is the professional hockey team playing in the Central Division of the Western Conference in the NHL. The teamís home arena is the Scottrade Center.
The Blues started in the National Hockey League in 1967 as part of the expansion that included other teams like Los Angeles Kings, Philadelphia Flyers, Minnesota North Stars, California Seals and Pittsburgh Penguins. Though they have a considerable amount of Division championship titles, the St. Louis Blues has yet to see the light of the Conference finals and their first Stanley Cup.
The teamís jersey colors are gold, blue, dark blue and white. The official mascot is Louie the Bear. Itís a tradition that every Blues game is opened with an organ rendition of the W.C. Handy song where the team got its name and ìWhen the Saints Go Marching Inî. Hall of Fame inductees from the St. Louis Blues include Grant Fuhr, Brett Hull, Scott Stevens, Dale Hawerchuk and Wayne Gretzky who played with the team in 1996.
