Stomp Tickets in Charlotte

Stomp, a non-traditional dance troupe, was created by Steve McNicholas and Luke Creswell in the summer of 1991. The troupe uses a combination of visual comedy, percussion, and movement to perform. The original group was comprised of 7 people - Luke, Theseus Gerard, Fraser Morrison, Carl Smith, Nick Dwyer, David Olrod and Sarah Eddy. Then, by fall, Fiona Wilkes was added.

With Luke and Steve and producers, financers, and directors, Stomp premiered at the Assembly Rooms of Edinburgh and previewed at Bloomsbury Theatre, in London. This led to the troupe becoming the Guardian’s “Critic’s Choice” and winning the award given by Daily Express as “Best of the Fringe”.

The grouped toured around the world between 1991 and 1994. The tour culminated in a sold-out season on January 1994 at London’s Salder’s Wells Theatre where the troupe won the “Best Choreography Award” in a West End show and received an Olivier nomination for “Best Entertainment Award”.

By February 1994, the group began shows at the Orpheum Theater in New York City where they received a Drama Desk Award for Most Unique Theatre Experience and an Obie Award. US casts were added into the troupe – this allowed the original group to continue their sold-out tours plus US touring which actually continues up to present day.

The group continues to perform in various places and appeared in various commercials and TV shows, too.
