The Tampa Bay Rays is a team of professional baseball players that plays in the Eastern Division of Major League Baseball. The franchise was created in 1998, and it is currently located in St. Petersburg, Florida. The team has been calling Tropicana Field as its home ballpark since the year the team was created.
In 2007, the team underwent certain changes such as a slight change in the team’s name from the “Tampa Bay Devil Rays,” to the current “Tampa Bay Rays.” Other changes that occurred included a change in the team’s colors from green, blue, and black to Columbia blue, navy blue, and gold.
Majority of the team’s shares are owned by Stuart Sternberg, who made the decisions during the various changes that the team underwent. The team is managed by Joe Maddon, and since its inception, the team has yet to win a division title as well as a World Series title.
