The team’s uniform colors are white and burnt orange. The fight song is “Texas Fight” and the mascot, Bevo.
The University of Texas has a long history of producing quality football teams – with 4 Division 1-A National Championship wins to the team; 3 (1963, 1969, and 1970) of these wins happened when the team was under the legendary head coach, Darrell Royal. The 4th win was in 2005 under Mack Brown. Under Brown since 1998, the team had a 93–22 win–loss record up to the 2006–2007 season. The 2009–2009 season ended up with 12–1 win–loss record.
The team belongs to NBC’s 7 top candidates for “best team of the decade” in January 2008. Also in 2008, the team maintained its long-time record of producing at least one player for the NFL – something that started as far back as 1938 with 71 consecutive drafts.
