The Magic Flute is an opera in two acts composed by none other than the famed Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1971. The Magic Flute is in the form of a Singspiel, which is a combination of singing and spoken dialogue.
The story revolves around a young prince, Tamino, who gets lost and is rescued by three ladies who are attendants of the Queen of the Night. The prince also meets Papageno, an interesting character who will be accompanying him throughout his journey. The three ladies show Tamino a picture of a beautiful lady who Tamino falls instantly in love with. The lady, Pamina, is the daughter of the Queen of the Night. He instructs Tamino to rescue Pamina who has been taken from her with a promise that they will end up together. After a series of trials of which Tamino passed, he and Pamina are happily united in the end.
Various film versions have been adapted for the Magic Flute, including a Swedish adaptation, German adaptation, and English version.
