Vincent Grant ìVinceî Gill is a country singer and songwriter as well as multi-instrumentalist from Norman, Oklahoma, United States. Born on April 12, 1957, Gill is best known for being a solo artist, as well as for being the frontman of Pure Prairie League, a country rock band that has been active since the 1970s.
Gill first had exposure to country music when his father encouraged him to learn how to play a guitar, banjo, and other musical instruments. By the time he was a teenager, Gill was already in a band called ìBluegrass Revue,î and just after graduating, he joined known bands such as ìBoone Creekî and ìThe Cherry Bombs.î
In 1969, Gill made his debut on the national music scene by playing in the Pure Prairie League, and released the album ìCanít Hold Back.î
Gill is multi-awarded, and has received a number of awards such as the Country Music Associationís Male Vocalist of the Year five times, and Top Male Artist of the Academy of Country Music two times.
