Virginia Tech Hokies is a group made up of Virginia Techís athletic teams. The Hokies participate in intercollegiate sports under the NCAAís Division I of the Atlantic Coast Conference with its 19 varsity teams. Some of the sports that the teams play includes basketball, baseball, football, golf, cross country, volleyball, lacrosse, softball, diving, and tennis.
Although the group has been around for a number of years now, it is still trying to acquire its first national title and championship under the leadership of Jim Weaver. The games that these athletic teams play their games in a Virginiaís various sporting facilities such as the Lane Stadium for football games, Cassell Coliseum for basketball games, and the English field for baseball games.
The teamís colors are burnt orange and Chicago maroon, and the teams are cheered on by their school mascot HokieBird. Perhaps the most notable Hokie who played in professional sports is Drew Weaver, who was known to be the first American to win the championship at the British Amateur golf tournament.
