Washington Redskins is a professional American football team in Washington, D.C. The team is a member of the Eastern Division under the National Football Conference of the National Football League.

The team started out as the Boston “Football” Braves in Boston in 1932; they first played at Braves Field. The team’s first season ended up with a 4–4–2 record. Moving to Fenway Park the following year, the team changed their name to “Redskins”. However, the team does not have a good fan base in Boston – thus, the team moved to Washington.

In Washington, the team played in Griffith Stadium. Signing rookie quarterback, Sammy Baugh, was a good choice as Baugh is innovative and the Redskins took to using forward pass, something that football teams rarely use to gain yards in that time. That year, 1937, the team won the Eastern Division title and went to the NFL Championship game. The win was repeated in 1942.

Following a losing streak during the 50s and 60s, the team won division and conference titles in the 70s then moved up to and won the Super Bowl Championships in 1982, 1987, and 1991. These days, the Redskins is the highest grossing team but ranks second in being the most valuable franchise.
