Steve Winwood is an English singer and songwriter known for his versatility in terms of music genres and instruments. He writes and performs jazz, rock, and blues rock. He also plays the guitar, bass, Hammond organ, and various string instruments.
Aside from playing solo, he was also a member of bands Traffic, Go, the Spencer Davis Group, and Blind Faith. He also founded in Steve Winwood Band.
It was in 1969 that Winwood, along with Eric Clapton, Ric Grech, Ginger Baker, and Pat Burke co-founded the short-lived supergroup Blind Faith. He began his solo career in 1977.
Throughout his career, he has won several Grammy Awards and had ranked as #33 in the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time by Rolling Stone in 2008. He has also released 9 albums and had played for several music artists, too. In fact, he played for Eric Clapton, Billy Joel, Lou Reed, Marianne Faithfull, and other artists.
