The Stone Temple Pilots (STP) is a rock band composed of American musicians. The band’s lead vocalist is Scott Weiland, and the brothers Dean DeLeo and Robert DeLeo control the guitars, while Eric Kretz masters the drums / percussions. As early as the launch of their debut album, Core, the band was able to enjoy immediate success, even reaching 8x platinum certification.
The band is also known as “Mighty Joe Young,” and it is originally based in San Diego, California. For a time, from 2003-2008, the band went on hiatus, before it went active once more in 2008.
The band has received a number of awards, such as a Grammy Award for their song, “Plush”, as the “Best Hard Rock Performance.” Some hit songs the band has produced include “Creep,” “Sex Type Thing,” “Wicked Garden”, and “Dead & Bloated.” Other awards the band received include MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist and American Music Award for Favorite Pop/Rock New Artist.
