The name refers to the athletes of the Syracuse University baseball, basketball, hockey and lacrosse teams. All teams play in the Carrier Dome a but they also play in other sports complexes located in the Manley Field House complex.
The football team is known for producing a veritable number of Hall of Famers since its formation. It is a Division I Bowl Subdivision of the NCAA and is currently headed by Doug Marrone.
The basketball team belongs to the intercollegiate college menís basketball program of the university and regularly competes in the Big East Conference.
The university also has a Division I NCAA lacrosse team. It played its first lacrosse game in 1916. The team now holds the largest number of titles in any team in the history of the NCAA Division I. It most recently won the 2009 National Championship title when it defeated Cornell University in a 10-9 overtime victory.
The soccer team is the NCAA College soccer team of the university and the Division I team in the Big East conference.
