A Little Night Music is a musical that was created using the music and lyrics of Stephen Sondheim, and written based on the book by Hugh Wheeler. The musical is inspired by Smiles of a Summer Night by Ingmar Bergman.
The musical mainly revolves around the romantic lives of several partners. The original Broadway production was held in 1973 and has since then been featured in various productions all over London and other parts of the world. The film was also adapted into a film sometime in 1977 where Elizabeth Taylor, Lesley-Anne Down, Len Cariou, and Diana Rigg starred, and Harold Prince directed.
The musical is multi awarded, winning 6 Tony Awards, 6 Drama Desk Awards, 1 Grammy Award, and 1 Olivier Award. Most of these awards were received in 1973 when the musical was just starting out.
